Orthopedic surgeon Nick Sekouris, and data analyst Effrosini Ligda, developed the Scoliosis Classification Application. This application makes it easy for the user to classify scoliosis according to Lenkes classification. The user must introduce eight radiological measurements: Cobb angle, Upper-End Vertebra, Lower End Vertebra, Apex, Side of the Curve, Cobb angle during side bending, Lumbar Modifier, and Sagittal Modifier. A number between 0-180 needs to be introduced for the Cobb angle, Cobb angle during side bending, and Sagittal Modifier. A vertebra from T1-T12 and L1-L5 needs to be introduced for Upper-End Vertebra, Lower End Vertebra, and Apex. On Side Curve: double-click and select "right" or "left". According to Lenkes classification, a lumbar modifier from A, B, and C needs to be introduced. Then based on this information the application determines the type of scoliosis and gives a detailed description of it. Furthermore, this application provides an overall view of the measurements and the outcome. This data, together with patient information can be saved in an EXCEL format for further use.
